In reaction to inaccurate news that was spread recently in some International media, we would like to inform you correctly about the updated measurements of the Cuban ministry of Health for the arrival of tourists. In some media it was stated that international travelers would have to complete a 7 day quarantine in an isolation center, after an obligatory PCR-test taken at the airport on arrival and that they would have to repeat this PCR-test on the 5th day of their quarantine. We would like to clarify that these regulations do not apply for tourists from Europe, who stay in a hotel after arrival! “Cuba is one of the safest long distance destinations” - Interview with Bernd Herrmann

The German Federal Foreign Office has extended the travel warning for destinations outside Europe until the end of September. It will be decided in the next few days whether after that Germans can travel to Cuba again without any problems. Touristik Aktuell spoke to the former Airtours manager Bernd Herrmann. He has been living in Havana for almost 20 years and is the managing director of the incoming agency Senses of Cuba. Mr. Herrmann, are the borders open for vacationers? Even though Cuba is doing outstandingly well in global comparison, when it comes to the pandemic, the opening of the borders for international tourism as well as roundtrips will take a bit longer than expected. We are now estimating earliest in November or probably in  December. We unfortunately do not have any concrete information from the Cuban government at the moment. Cuba opening carefully step by step – Total reopening expected in November/December 2020! It is safe to say that Cuba is in a relatively good position in its fight against the pandemic, compared to many other countries worldwide. Mostly due to a very precautious strategy, which is also the reason why a total reopening for international tourism is taking longer than first expected. Based on our current estimation, the country including its capital Havana, will open earliest in November or more probable in December this year. There no has been any official statement regarding to set an opening date from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism yet. Nevertheless, already in August some of the international airports like Santa Clara, Cayo Coco and Cayo Largo, which serve the Cuban islands at the north coast (Cayo Coco/Cuillermo, Cayo Cruz) and in the south (Cayo Largo), have been opened for international tourism, although strictly ...
